The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the world’s largest early childhood education association. This year the Week of the Young Child was celebrated April 24th-29th.
Fun theme days and marching in a parade were the highlights of this year’s Week of the Young Child for the children at St. Mary’s Little Lambs in Port Jervis. On Monday, April 24th the school marched in the annual Port Jervis Week of the Young Child Parade, along with the children from Candy Cane Preschool. Approximately, 75 children and adults marched through the streets of Port Jervis to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. Port Jervis Youth Detective Scott Robertson stopped at intervals along the parade route to instruct the children on safety rules.
After the parade, “Officer Scott” gave the children a tour of the police department and gave them a tour of a police car and the Port Jervis Police Department UTV.

Super Bowl Halftime Performance with Lady Gaga
The super bowl show began with a patriotic songs montage followed by Lady Gaga herself flying down to the stage to sing some of her biggest hits. She was dressed up in bright metallic colors, high boots, and glittery-rhinestone makeup. Among some well organized dance choreography, performances near the stage moved glowing lights in-sync with the music. Lady Gaga did take a quiet moment at the piano to say hello to her mother and father. The show concluded with a literal mic-drop, and catching a football before jumping off the stage.
Music Set List:
- “God Bless America”
- “Edge of Glory” “
- Poker Face”
- “Born This Way”
- “Just Dance”
- “Million Reasons”
- “Bad Romance”
